I built into the purchase cost of the book a 20% ($5.00) donation to one of two local charities that focus on helping foster kids get adopted and helping older foster children get ready for their adult years. These are wonderful organizations that I’ve had the honor to volunteer with over the years, and I can’t say enough about them. Below will be a brief description of each, and please designate which charity you’d prefer, at the time of purchase.
The mission of the Heart Gallery of Pinellas & Pasco is to increase the number of successful adoptions of local children in foster care. In addition to featuring images of adoptable children, they recruit and support families interested in adoption as well. It began with a simple idea: create an extraordinary portrait of a child currently in foster care and available for adoption. More than just a traveling exhibit, the Heart Gallery is a way for those interested in adoption to come face-to-face with children in the Tampa Bay area who are in need of forever families. Ready for Life provides support, resources and guidance former foster care youth need to successfully transition to adulthood. We are a solution-based skill center supporting youth in homelessness prevention, education and employment, and lifeline support networks through a number of different programs and services.
